Admissions to Rayne Primary School
For children starting school for the first time, admissions are processed by the Local Authority.
Information and guidance is set out within a Local Education Authority booklet entitled “Primary Education in Essex 2018/2019” which is available from Essex Learning Services at County Hall, Chelmsford, or can be downloaded from www.essex.gov.uk/admissions.
Applications can be made online or by post but parents should note that the closing date for primary applications is 15th January 2018.
(The online application process opens on 13/11/17 and also closes on 15/01/18)
Please note that it is not possible to apply for a junior school or a mid-year place on line.
There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admission area. In the event of oversubscription places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:”
- Looked after children, and previously Looked After children
- Children with a sibling attending the school
- Children living in the priority admission area;
- Remaining applications.
In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority.
Exceptional medical circumstances (supported by medical evidence) may override the above (other than Looked after Children and previously looked after children).
Waiting lists are held by the Local Authority until the end of the Autumn Term
Parents can phone 0845 603 2200 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to check the admission area in which they live.
Attendance at the Nursery attached to our school does not guarantee admission to the school.
Parents of children who are attending our nursery must apply for a place at the school if they want their child to attend the reception class. The application will be considered against the published admission criteria for the school. There is no guarantee that a place will be offered.
