Welcome to Chestnut Class

Welcome to our class page. We have had an exciting start to the half term with our year six residential and sharing the activities with KS2 and parents in an assembly. We are now settled back into our routine though and busy learning about Light in science. I hope that the information below is useful for parents/carers to refer to, outlining key information for our class. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to speak to me and I will be more than happy to help. I continue to look forward to working with the children in Chestnut class to help them achieve their best.

PE Days

Chestnut class have PE sessions twice per week. On a Tuesday afternoon outdoor PE will be with Mr Cannon and on a Wednesday afternoon indoor PE will be with Miss Hutchings. Please ensure your child has a full, named PE kit in school all every day including tracksuit bottoms and a jumper – especially as the weather begins to get colder!

In Class

Please arrive to school on time each morning and ready to learn. Our first session starts at 8.50am. Remember your reading books and diary and a named water bottle each day. If you need to quiz on your reading book, please move your name on the grid when you arrive in the mornings.

Homework

Homework is set on a Friday every week. Year five will receive spelling, times tables, reading and either a maths or English task. Year six will receive spelling, times tables, reading, GPS and maths each week. Please make sure this is handed in by Thursday each week at the latest. If you have any questions about homework, please speak to Miss Hutchings before it is due in and someone will sit and help you with it!

Prefects

Prefects are completing their jobs with confidence and have proved themselves to be good role models. The children are well on the way to earning their first full prefect badge at the end of Autumn term!

Our topic

Our topic this half term is Light where we will be using the skills of scientists to explore and investigate. A full topic web is available to view below.
