Welcome to Pine Class

Welcome to Pine Class!

Class teacher – Mrs Laban

LSA – Mrs Graham Tuesday-Friday am.

LSA – Mrs Turner Monday am

PPA cover – Mrs Anderson.

Arrival

Please ensure your child is in school on time - 8.50am

At the beginning of school, the class adults will be working with your children so, unless it is urgent, please leave a note in your child’s reading record and I will get back to you. This could be a written response, phone call or a meeting, whichever is most appropriate.

My door is always open so please do not hesitate to contact me.

P.E.

All children should have a P.E. kit in school which consists of: red shorts, white t-shirt and plimsolls for indoor P.E. jogging bottoms, tracksuit top and trainers for outdoor P.E.

Our PE days are Monday PM and Friday AM. Children need to have their kit in a labelled bag and please ensure that all pieces of clothing, including trainers and plimsolls, are named. If girls wear tights to school, they should have a pair of socks to wear with trainers. No jewellery. Long hair needs to tied back.

Homework

Homework will be set every Friday. This should be handed in on the following Thursday.

Alongside daily reading, homework will include spellings, timetables and an English or maths activity.

Children are encouraged to complete their homework independently and that it is simply overseen by adults. Please write a note on the homework or speak to us if your child requires lots of support.

Please do not hesitate to seek guidance from any adults in the class if there are any issues regarding homework.

Rewards

The children, as a class, will work towards filling the class CARE chart. CARE stars can be given to the children for many reasons and by any member of staff in school.

This term the children are working towards an afternoon of bikes, scooters and skateboards.

Secret Star

A star will be chosen, at random, by a class adult every morning. If that child, during the course of the day, has demonstrated our CARE values they will earn stars for the CARE chart.

I will also find any opportunity to reward the children in other ways such as stickers, certificates, post cards home and free time.

Independence

The children are responsible for bringing in their reading book and record, drink bottle and homework. They are also responsible for reading at home and reminding adults to sign their reading books!

The children have their own display board in class so they know where they sit, groups, jungle gym rota etc.

Within the classroom, they will be responsible for looking after their own belongings, tidying up etc.

We are all looking forward to working with your children this year!
