The children went on a hunt to find different natural forms. They created their own natural form photo in a frame outside on the school field. Using what they had found we then created leaf and flower in prints in clay. Some of the children also made their own sculptures. To finish off the afternoon we then made fir cone monsters, all of which will be painted tomorrow.

We have been in forest school today, we collected lots of bits for our very own nature collages and pictures!

Another great day in school today. We kicked off the morning with the daily mile and then we were treated to a fantastic karate lesson from the lovely Mrs Hayden. Some cardio PE activities led by super fit Miss Phillips and then some Maths worksheets.

The children then created some amazing cards and pictures to be sent to the elderly residents of a nearby development to cheer them all up. Some excellent creativity!

During lunch the children were kept busy by Mr Canon and had a few....hundred....games of manhunt.

In the afternoon Mrs Millbank and Miss Phillips arranged an exciting treasure hunt outside. The children had to read and solve clues leading to a prize for all at the end.  We finished off the day with dodgeball and football. Phew! A busy but very enjoyable day.

Today Acorns Extras enjoyed the company of Ezme the dog again. The children made their own VE day planes and bunting which is now pride of place on the school gates.

The children, Mrs Laban, Mrs Wootton and Mrs Clayden deweeded, cleaned and tidied the outdoor area outside Maple and Willow's classrooms and also planted more plants. Mrs Clayden's and Mrs Wootton's sunflowers are growing well!

Today the children looked at the amazing Captain Tom Moore. Having been given an Honorary Promotion from the Queen on his 100th birthday the children designed medals to give to their heroes!

04.05.2020

Today the children enjoyed completing their daily maths tasks. After they completed their maths sheets they spent time on Sumdog / TT Rockstars.

We completed some prints using polystyrene and paint. All of the children thought of some creative ideas. We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures below.

Today Ezme the dog came to school to keep the Acorns Extras company. She enjoyed playing with the children on the field and helped out with the gardening by running off with the pots! The children planted seeds and plants in pots for the courtyard. Inventively, the children recycled their gardening gloves into water people! We also created pictures for the Booking Hall cafe who have been donating cake to hardworking NHS Staff. What a great day!

28.04.2020

Today we have been very busy sewing! The children found it very relaxing and enjoyed making several pillows / teddies each!

27.04.2020

Acorns Extra started the day by completing their daily mile! Some children enjoyed lapping Mrs Wooton and Miss Gregory!

Then, all children completed their White Rose maths learning before moving on to tidying the courtyard area. We are all looking forward to planting some plants later on in the week to brighten it up! Can you spot the difference between the two courtyard pictures?

In the afternoon we enjoyed practising our blending skills by painting parrots. Some added some lovely feathers to them too!

24.04.2020

Today the children took part in the Olympics!

The children each chose a flag, found the flag in an atlas and then coloured their flag in.

The children enjoyed setting up 6 activities and then competed for their ‘country’ in an Olympics style challenge.

Some children also loved having an afternoon walk with Mrs Keeling and her dog. See below:

23.04.2020

Today the children, Miss Phillips and Mrs Stewart tried cheerleading to the song from Trolls which was great fun!

They also designed their very own dragons, gave it a name and a special power, in relation to St Georges Day!

We have also had lots of fun in the sun and in forest school!

Thanks to Mrs White who donated some dolls and accessories which some of the children have enjoyed playing with too.

Another great day!

21.04.2020

We started off the day with the daily mile in the fresh but sunny weather! This was followed by several games of manhunt in the playground where Miss Phillips and Mrs Millbank seemed to be the main targets for capture!

The children made some beautiful birthday cards for Captain Tom and we had a lovely discussion on what an amazing man he is and how inspirational he is during these challenging times.

We also made some posters for the Booking Hall Cafe cake parcels for the NHS and finished off the day with swing and hammock at Forest School.

10.04.2020

Today the Acorns Extras enjoyed making Easter egg stain glass windows and the Lego theme was Easter too!

03.04.2020

Today the Acorns Extras had lots of fun making colourful Easter cards from egg boxes, tissue paper and paint.

We also enjoyed listening to David Walliams Elevenses with gorgeous Indi the dog.

We finished the day with an Easter Egg Hunt in the outside space and both teams found 16 eggs in under 6 minutes! Well done you guys!

Today we decided to thank our wonderful Mr King for his contribution to making sure our school is safe and clean for the key worker children each day. He does it with a smile on his face as always and we are so grateful for his dedication.

The children of Acorns Extra made him a beautiful card complete with a poem from Amelia B and they selected him 4 of the 100 Easter nests that they made today, as a special treat!

Thank you Mr King! We are so glad we have you at Rayne school!

Another lovely day! Staff and children at Acorns Extras started the day with writing letters to a local care home. These will be sent at the end of the week when the children have completed a portrait to go with their letter and some inspirational quotes that they will type and print.

They then spent some more time colouring and painting some letters to make our new school banner - thanking the NHS for all of their hard work.

In the afternoon, the children enjoyed some time in Forest School creating some beautiful threaded leaves. See below:

30.03.2020

Today Acorn Extras designed a fantastic banner for the front of the school gates that reflects the current community effort throughout Rayne and across the entire world!

They also enjoyed a spot of Forest School today but had to wrap up warmer than last week.

Acorns Extras are currently in the process of making a video to thank all of the different types of key workers who are helping during this crisis. Well done you guys!

27.03.2020

Today's theme was sunflowers! The children enjoyed learning about sunflowers and planting their very own sunflower seeds to take home with them.

26.03.2020

Today the Acorns Extras group made bunting for Forest School! The children constructed dens again and enjoyed playing in them and using the rope swing. They had great fun!!

25.03.2020

Today we painted rainbows for others to enjoy as they go on their daily walks.

Lego Challenge Day 3 was set by Mrs Wootton who asked the children to create bugs. It was tricky but enjoyable!

Mrs White set the brief to build dens too, so this afternoon the children constructed their own hideouts using a variety of materials and enjoyed eating their snacks in them. Didn't they do well!

24.03.2020

Acorns Extras have been busy again today:

"We all started the day off with Joe Wicks before the children competed in day 2 of the Lego challenge. They had to create a building in 30 minutes. We also ventured out into Forest school, hunting for bugs, climbing trees, rolling down hills and collecting twigs, stones and flowers."
